Message from Pastor Leo March 15,2007 The phrase “The Day of the Lord” is mentioned at
least one hundred times throughout the Bible. If it’s mentioned that much, it must be very important, and you
should know what it means. The Bible says: For the day of the LORD of
hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that
is lifted up; and he shall be brought low. Isaiah
2:12 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at
hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Isaiah 13:6 But the day of the Lord will come as a
thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a
great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and
the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:10 There is a certain day, a moment, when that’s
it. It’s all over. When the day of the Lord happens there will
be nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, no excuses. BOOM! The bride groom has
come, but if the bride isn’t ready, the doors are shut. That’s what all the parables are about. That’s what all the teaching is about. Things won’t always go on forever and ever
as they are. We are told that it is
appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, Heb 9:27 and judgment is a big
part of the whole plan of God. Does that make you uncomfortable? These are the things Jesus told his
disciples, that his disciples told their disciples, and their disciples, until
it reached to our generation. I’m just
telling you what God has said. The
scriptures, in fact, warn me not to maneuver the words of God - that I must
keep them in context and that I must say them as they are. That might hurt your feelings. But I am calling you to account to God and
God’s Word. Do I have a Biblical role model? You bet!
Acts, Chapter two – here’s Peter preaching on the day of Pentecost, and
the main theme of his message is not the gifts of the spirit, not even the baptism
of the Holy Spirit. The main focus of his
first sermon is The Day of the Lord. And
it’s serious; he points his finger at the people and tells them like it
is. It’s intense. It’s supposed to be. You are supposed to be passionate about the word
of God and the message of Jesus Christ. Your friends should notice that you’re working against the clock. You need to have the sense that it could happen
at any moment. You should feel this
great expectation coming forth when you talk to people about Jesus: “Whoa, the
Lord could come at any moment! I better
make sure everybody has heard. I better
make sure they know.” We have an amazing opportunity before us. We are racing against the clock because we
know that great and notable day of the Lord is coming. I don’t have time to mince words or else I would. I don’t have time to play games or else I
would. I don’t have time to coddle and
try to be nice or else I would. I’m telling
people it could happen this week! And
you should be too. Tell your friends and family about Jesus. Tell them about salvation. Tell them about The Day of the Lord. Read to them from the Bible. Read it for yourself. Read about The Day of the Lord. And then go and tell the world.
