Why are so many people confused about what the Bible actually says? Because people read more books about the Bible than just read the Bible itself. If you’ll make it a practice to read the Bible more than books about the Bible, then you won’t be confused. You’ll get it. It is reported that DL Moody had read through the Bible more than 200 times before he died. Do you know why he did that? Because God began to use him in ministry and Moody sensed a lacking in his life. He sensed that he didn’t have faith. DL Moody himself said he used to get down on his knees and whine and beg for faith, “Give me faith, Lord. The things you’ve asked me to do I can’t do. I’m not equipped. Give me faith to believe you.” Then one day he was reading the Bible in Romans, chapter ten, verse seventeen: “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” It was as if God was saying, “Stop your whining and your complaining and crying out to me. Prayers are nice but you’re never going to get faith by praying for it. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.” And DL Moody said the lights went on and he started reading his Bible on a regular basis and he never asked for faith again. He didn’t need to because faith comes to us by reading the word of God. And the Bible tells us, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 Faith is, and always has been, the basis of our relationship with God. So keep reading your Bible. Read it more than other books and commentaries and build your relationship with God.
May The Lord Jesus Christ Be Magnified!
